Carol Richmond is a qualified and highly-skilled teacher. She has over ten years’ experience in the private sector tutoring pupils for the 11+ entrance exams for selective schools in North Yorkshire and Halifax. Prior to that she worked in the primary sector as a classroom teacher and intervention teacher.

Carol has a B.A. (Hons) in English Studies, a P.G.C.E. in Primary Education, and has an enhanced DBS.

Carol has a thorough understanding of the 11 plus exam requirements for Ermysted’s Grammar School, Skipton Girls’ High School, Ripon Grammar School, North Halifax Grammar School and Crossley Heath.

She teaches in a very structured way to ensure pupils have a secure grounding in all the skills and techniques necessary for the verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, English and maths papers as required for each school.

Practising the GL assessment papers is an essential aspect of the tutoring, particularly timing, and these skills are carefully taught.

Carol is a very dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, who enjoys seeing pupils’ confidence and skills develop through the lessons. She likes to encourage and support pupils to build up their self-esteem, and has achieved a very high pass rate for the 11+ selective entrance exams.

Carol has gained an excellent reputation for being reliable, organised, professional and a warm and friendly tutor. She ensures parents/carers receive regular feedback, and works well with families to ensure pupils are completely prepared and confident to sit the 11 plus entrance exams.
