Carol has tutored three of our children in preparation for the entrance exam for the Skipton Girls’ High School and the Ermysted’s Grammar School and all three passed, so the proof of the pudding is definitely in the taste!

What impressed us the most was that all three children had different strengths, weaknesses and personalities, and Carol was able to adapt to each of their needs and work at a pace and level that gave them the necessary confidence , all the while building them up in the core areas. All three children enjoyed their weekly time with Carol.

Carol has a very calm and patient nature, and is very encouraging and good at explaining any gaps they may have in their knowledge, which is so important as some of the areas covered aren’t really studied until Year 6 or 7, so they were often learning it for the first time. She also has an abundance of excellent resources.

We would wholeheartedly recommend Carol to anyone looking for an 11+ tutor. We have one daughter left in Year 4 and will definitely be sending her Carol’s way at the start of Year 5 to see if she can help  make it four out of four!

Our daughter was determined to go to Skipton Girls’, and so to support her we hired Carol to help her prepare. Carol taught our daughter over Zoom, and as soon as our daughter had sat through her first lesson, we knew this was very workable and also very convenient for us!

Carol immediately put our daughter at ease. She told us ‘Carol explains everything so well and so calmly. If I do not get something, Carol goes over it again. I like that.’

Carol is extremely knowledgeable about the Skipton Girls’ entrance requirements, which really helped us all to feel relaxed and more confident in terms of required levels needed. We received weekly, detailed feedback from each lesson. Carol always made lessons enjoyable, so this meant that our daughter wanted to learn and develop her knowledge. As a result, she went into the exam feeling confident.

We found out this week that our daughter passed the exam, and we are very grateful to Carol for all her work. Thank you Carol!

Carol provided tutoring sessions via Skype. She made our daughter feel immediately at ease and was very patient and reassuring. She adapted the sessions as we went along to make sure our daughter was confident in all areas before the exams. She provided materials and feedback between the sessions and areas to focus on. Carol has delivered sessions to assist my daughter with the 11+ examination. Carol explains everything extremely clearly and my daughter always felt comfortable to say if she was unsure of anything. Sometimes reluctant to do extra work, I was pleasantly surprised at how happy my daughter was to participate in the sessions. Carol often gives praise and my daughter would finish the sessions in a fantastic mood. I can’t recommend Carol highly enough, and she has already started tutoring my niece!

Over an eight-month period, one hour per week, Carol tutored my son to prepare for the Ripon Grammar School selection test. He went on to pass the test. He always looked forward to the lessons. Carol was warm and patient and she carefully explained anything that my son didn’t understand. She structured the lessons so that they addressed any areas in which he was struggling. Worksheets were provided in a timely fashion, and at a level that challenged him whilst not being overly difficult. A great tutor – my son and I would both recommend her!
